QUESTION:
Tonight on Eyewitness News, John Sarno discussed his belief: that most
physical pain (back pain, carpal tunnel, etc.) are emotionally induced. I tend
to believe this theory, since emotions can trigger an ulcer, asthma, etc. It
is also our emotions that can trigger a fast heart rate (remember the last time
you got scared in a movie?).
If we know that our physical pain is emotionally induced, what can we do to be
pain free? Please e-me with any and all suggestions.
ANSWER:
There might actually be some truth in physical pain being emotionally induced.
Sarno spouts that horseshit, I get emotional, and proceed to beat the snot out
of him with my cane.
See? Emotionally induced pain. I could be an expert on this subject, don't you
think? Call Eyewitness News and tell them that Sarno and I will be there to
demonstrate for the 6 o'clock news.
I also agree with you about pain being emotionally induced in many instances.
However for me, I use magnets for my pains. I have pain from OA in my hips,
in my thumb, carpal tunnel and tendonitis.
I've used them for over 3 years and for me they work. The ones that I use are
called "rare earth neodymium". This is not a company, just a type of very
powerful therapeutic magnet.
After reading your post about Sarno and his belief that most pain is
emotionally induced, a feeling of warmth and serenity came over my body. It
was like something just triggered in my mind--just like Sarno says. I
immediately got vivid visions of green pastures and fresh mountain air, and as
I think further about these lovely green pastures and Sarnos beliefs, I zoom in
my thoughts on a far away black dot. I zoom in more and see it is a big Black
Bull in this pasture. He is a big strong bull, loving life in his green lovely
pasture and the fresh mountain air. And as I continue to think of Sarno's
theory, I focus in even more on the bull, and i notice the bull turns away from
me, crouchs, and takes a big shit, and leaves a big pile of Bull Shit. I guess
the bull was trying to describe Sarno's theory in the best way he could. i
think the bull did a magnificent job in his description of the Sarno theory. I
couldn't agree more with the Bull.
Yes!! That would certainly be the case. Besides, he very
carefully selects his patients. If physical pain is emotionally
induced why the careful selection criteria?? ....perhaps those
whose emotions can be easily brainwashed?? Or, perhaps there are
those 95% with back pain that resolves itself.
BTW, why see him at all, just go to a psychiatrist.
I'll be more than happy to help you. I can beat the crap out of him with
my uterus. And then, when we are done, we can tie him to a stake, let
everybody in the newsgroup throw rocks at him, and then ask him if he
still thinks that pain is emotionally induced.
