IBD Gel
What is IBD gel?
As far as current research goes
there is an exciting possibility
under trial right now. Acemannan is the name of the drug. Its origin is
the aloe vera plant. The main reason it has remained hidden for so long
is that the active ingredient in the aloe vera gel is very unstable and
breaks down rapidly after harvesting if not handled properly. This is
the reason fresh aloe users get benefits processed juices and capsules
simply can not achieve.
Carrington Laboratories spent
over twenty million dollars
identifying this active ingredient and developing extraction and
stabilization processes. Carrington has over fifty patents concerning
the production and use of "Manapol", the food grade compound containing
the active ingredient.
A pilot study done at Vanderbilt
U. treating Ulcerative Colitis
and Crohn's disease with amazing results. An unbelievably high
percentage were symptom free within one month. I have a copy of the
study results.
A study is currently underway
at the University of Texas Health
Science Center in Houston using Acemannan to treat AIDS. The results of
the pilot studies have been very encouraging. The reason the studies
were begun was the anecdotal reports from persons with AIDS claiming
great improvement while taking Carringtons original Aloe product
containing the active molecule. Anyone wishing the treatment protocol
let me know.
Another study used Acemannan
in the treatment of "Chronic
Rhinosinusitis"(sinus infections). The conclusion states "Incorporating
ACE-M gel(available from Emprise) into the standard treatment could
provide economical, rapid, sustained, preventive and more effective
treatment of acute rhinosinusitis compared to standard regimens."
The mode of action of the acemannan
molecule is described in the
patent document as an "immunemodulator." "Eventually, the
Carrington
research team found that acemannan is taken into a special leukocyte,
the macrophage, and this cell is stimulated to release messenger
molecules called cytokines (interferons, interleukins, prostaglandins,
tumor necrosis factor, and stem-cell growth factors). The result is
that general host defense and healing is simulated. Acemannan was also
found to be an immunemodulator. Its administration up-regulated host
defense when appropriate and down-regulated host reactions when
inappropriate, as in allergies, auto-immune diseases and chemical
hypersensitivity reactions."
In our blood stream we have
a very large white cell called a
macrophage(big eater). It is almost like an amoeba in that it wanders
around feeling everything it contacts. Its purpose in our body is to
determine if what is touching is "me, or not me." If the answer
is "not
me" its job is to eat it thereby protecting us from invasion by
bacteria, fungi or viruses. It also sends out messenger molecules
(cytokines) that activate other immune system responses. Some of these
are fairly familiar such as interferon, interleukins, prostaglandins,
tumor necrosis factors, etc..
When the macrophage ingests
a molecule of acemannan these
messenger molecules are released at levels never before seen. The
immune system is stimulated to respond more aggressively and
appropriately. The two studies underway right now using this compound
in the treatment of AIDS and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases such as
Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis indicate the concept of helping the
bodies immune system function at maximal normal levels may well be the
key to halting the damage caused by these disease processes.
Another helpful quote from one
of the articles stated, "Thus, a
natural occurring substance extracted from the aloe plant stimulates to
maximum activity normal cellular physiology of defense and healing for
animals, including humans."
Acemannan is not yet available,
but there is a food grade
compound available with the molecule in it. It is available through a
MLM group called Emprise International as a dietary supplement. Yes, I
belong to it, but for other of its products. I could conceivably have a
financial interest in your purchasing it($0.65) per bottle.
