Crohn' s Disease Diet
>My best friend just found
out she has Crohn's. She has lost alot of
>weight and looks gaunt.
She should also be tested for
celiac disease, It is very possible for
someone with Crohn's to concurrently have celiac. But if so, the celiac
will invariably be undiagnosed. But being gaunt is very much a celiac
symptom.
> We were wondering if
anyone could shed some
>light on diet and if what you eat or don't eat worsens this disease.
>Does anyone have info on what diet regimen is best; high-carb, low-carb,
>low-fat, etc.etc...
This is the most popular diet for people with Crohn's:
Specific Carbohydrate Diet: http://www.inform.dk/djembe/scd/
Note that it is a stricter diet
than needed to control celiac disease,
which only needs a gluten-free diet. So if celiac is concurrent, then this
diet will also work.

Then if you want to learn more
about celiac disease this site is a page of

Also realize that if taking Prednisone
she can't be tested for celiac
disease. Steroids will make the intestinal villi grow, and a biopsy will
come back negative.
